Letters of Support

The ONE Core is here to support YOUR research. If you are applying for a grant and think that the ONE Core could support you in your endeavors then contact us to request a letter of support. We can review your proposal and draft a custom Letter of Support.

General Use

For general use in grants and applications, the following text may be helpful:

Engineering Support

The ONE Core is part of the NeuroTechnology Center (NTC) at the University of Colorado School of Medicine on the Anschutz Medical Campus (AMC). Dedicated personnel in the ONE Core provide engineering support and technical resources for a diverse range of neuroscience research programs at AMC, focusing on NTC member departments, and for the wider research community. Services include the design, fabrication, troubleshooting, and implementation of optical, mechanical, electrical, and computational equipment and systems to meet user specific research needs. Training and equipment rentals are also available to researchers at subsidized rates. The ONE Core specifically supports optogenetics, in vivo and in vitro electrophysiology, the Miniscope, and DeepLabCut.

Equipment

The ONE Core houses multiple workstations with a focus on fabricating, testing, and calibrating electrical, mechanical, and optical systems. The optics workstation includes an inventory of optical components needed for optical patch cord fabrication, polishing tools, an optical power meter, photodetectors, and rentable lasers of several visible wavelengths. The electronics workstation includes soldering equipment, oscilloscopes, signal generators, microcontrollers, and a stock of electrical components. The computation workstation has software and GPU hardware for machine learning projects. The NeuroPixels mobile workstation has the hardware and software to acquire, process, and analyze electrophysiological data from high-density NeuroPixel probes. The ONE Core has access to a variety of 3D printing techniques for the fabrication of custom-designed components in a variety of materials.

Acknowledgement

Please acknowledge our Core in your publications. An appropriate wording would be

“The Optogenetics and Neural Engineering (ONE) Core at the University of Colorado School of Medicine provided engineering support for this research. The ONE Core is part of the NeuroTechnology Center, funded in part by the School of Medicine and by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke of the National Institutes of Health under award number P30NS048154.”
